Are you an Explorer Young Leader?
Do you have a passion for the planet and want to make a practical difference to educate younger sections and improve your local environment?
Then you should become a Green Young Leader! Its free (you just need to get to the course) and you'll learn loads of skills to enhance your CV, and develop your leadership skills.
Anyone who is an Explorer or Explorer Young Leader. You should also check with your leader that they are happy for you to attend the course and you will have to include their details on the booking form.
There are 5 courses running, each with about 30 spaces. We’ll allocate places on a first come first serve basis. You need to complete the application form to get a place, then we’ll get in touch to tell you if you were successful. If we cant offer you a place where you want to go we’ll try to offer an alternative.

You need to complete one application form for every person who would like to attend. if you want to apply as a group of friends then everyone should apply and write the names of their friends in the "linked applications" box. If you are a leader who wants to apply for a whole unit then send us an email at the address below!
The short answer...
You attend a funded 2 night residential at one of the Scout Adventures centres, you learn the 5 instructing ninja skills, and how to deliver the Green Champion programme. Then you deliver the Green Champion programme with the section you support.
The longer answer...
Green Young Leaders is a funded project to train Explorers to have the skills to inspire younger sections to make a difference in their community.
You'll take part in a residential weekend course at one of the Scout Adventures centre. The residential course includes:
- Training on how instruct others including the 5 Scout Adventures instructing ninja skills.
- How to run the Green Champion programme with the section you support.
- It will help you complete the 4 Young leader missions
- A chance to meet other Explorers and make new friends from around the country.
- Includes indoor accommodation and catering, you need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow.

The Scouts have joined forces with some of the UKs best known outdoor learning charities and organisations to help inspire a generation of young people to connect to the outdoors and improve our planet!
This project is funded by the government’s Green Recovery Challenge Fund. The fund is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with Natural England and the Environment Agency.
Generation Green is the first project to be delivered by the Access Unlimited coalition. The coalition comprises YHA (England & Wales) – who are hosting the project on behalf of the partners - The Outward Bound Trust, Scouts, Girlguiding, Field Studies Council and the 10 English National Parks.
