FACILITIES AND ACCOMMODATION
Camp or lodge? We've got it all.
You’re spoilt for choice at Downe with a range of camping areas perfect for any size group. For patrol camping or smaller groups choose from a range of small sites, either close to camp centre or further away for a more back-to-basics trip. Large glades surrounded by trees or open fields are ideal for larger groups.
Wherever you choose to pitch your tent, you won’t be far from fresh running water and toilet facilities.
If you need help creating a camp experience but you don’t have the equipment, we can help. Whether you don’t have any kit at all, you just need to top it up, or you don’t want to bring it all with you, we’ll do what you need us to do to ensure your visit is what you need it to be. We hire out tents and camping equipment – just give us a call.
We have two new tented villages made up of 4m bell tents for young people and 3m bell tents for adults. We’ve made these as comfortable as possible making it easy for you to just turn up and camp without the fuss of setting up. They come complete with comfortable mattresses, electric lanterns and storage boxes. There’s also a group tent with tables, benches and lighting to take care of your eating arrangements. Each tented village has space for 40 young people and four adults in 10 bell tents.
Mix up your visits by camping with us one visit and stay in a lodge on another. Choose from 3 different lodges sleeping from 28 to 38.

It's your experience, so you're in charge. We believe that you should play a key role in designing your experience. To help, we have four basic products as a starting point:
Original outdoor experience
Immersed in the outdoors, young people will learn skills, work as a team and develop a sense of responsibility.
1-4 nights in our tented village.
Why? Learn new skills, promote team work.
Young people are invited to paddle, climb and think their way through a series of exciting challenges, from canoeing and archery to high ropes and orienteering.
1-4 nights in our lodges or tented village.
Why? Form strong working relationships between teachers and pupils; develop initiative and self-reliance.
Split your time between self-led sessions and instructed activities. We can help you meet your learning objectives by providing activities, skills or simply the space you need.
