If you like a challenge, you'll love this. Grab 3 of your friends and enter your team of 4 to a 25 mile challenge that ends at Gilwell Park with a celebratory barbecue. If you can't make a team, or would like to go it alone, don't worry, we accept individual registrations too.

By taking the Great Step Forward with us, you'll help raise money to open a museum at Gilwell Park. With your help we can share the history of Scouting with future generations. If you're a volunteer, you can send 40% of your fundraising to your local Scout group.

It take's place on Saturday 20th July 2019. You'll need to raise a minimum of £250 per person and entry fee is £29 per person.

Where your money goes

The Great Step Forward is a perfect opportunity to raise finds, learn new skills, and work towards a significant goal.

All money raised will go towards developing the official UK Scouts Museum at Gilwell Park, as well as your local group. If you reach your target you'll have the oppportunity to receive 40% of the fundraising money back to your group.

The Museum at Giwell Park is a one of a kind project and is a beautiful space for Scouts from the UK, and all over the world to gather, share stories and learn about the history and future of Scouting.

The camp square at Gilwell Park is not fit for purpose. Originally desgined as a place for Scouts to come together, make friends and share experiences and over time it has lost focus.

We need to invigorate this space, creating a new and exciting setting. A hub where visitors, not only make connections with each other, but are also able to discover a connection to the past.

There has never been an official Museum to celebrate the UK as the birthplace of UK Scouting, even though there is an important story to tell, not just with UK Scouts but with our friends from around the world.

Can I take part as an individual?

If you’re unable to form a team of 4, don’t worry! We can assist in placing you within a team of fellow individual registrants.

Why is there a minimum fundraising amount?

To help us reach more young people with the magical story of Scouting. We use our registration fees to help create a great experience that everyone can enjoy.
