What is a Risk Assessment?

What is an Activity Procedures and Standard?

A Risk Assessment is a written assessment of all the hazards in an activity session and all the things that you MUST do to ensure safety.  To understand the risk assessment:

1. Read the Generic risk assessment for that type of activity (e.g. On Ground Activities)

2. Read the Specific risk assessment for the activity - this has the extra points for just that activity (e.g. Fire Lighting)

3. Pay attention to any MEDIUM residual risks - these are the things you need dynamically risk assess in your session.

An APS is the set of instructions you must follow when running your session - it is a summary of the things you must include or do in your session.  If you need more detail for a session you should look at the Technical Support Document.

1. The Aims and Objectives of the session - what you are trying to achieve when you run the session

2. The training and supervision requirements for the session

3. The equipment you will need

4. The basic session plan you MUST follow for your session - you can add to this if needed.
