Surrounded by majestic mountains in the heart of Eryri National Park, Yr Hafod offers the perfect base for your next outdoor adventure. Step directly onto mountain trails from our doorstep, with no need to travel further to begin your expedition. Our fully equipped accommodation provides all the comforts and facilities you need after a day in the mountains, with bunkbed accommodation for 30, modern kitchen facilities, and communal spaces for relaxing and planning your next day’s adventure.
Yr Hafod is both a training centre and an ideal venue for introducing young people to the outdoors. We deliver Mountain Training qualifications including Mountain Leader, Hill & Moorland Leader, and Rock-Climbing instructor, alongside navigation skills, and Terrain 1 and 2 permits, and offer DofE Gold Expedition support. With immediate access to varied terrains suited for all skill levels – from gentle walks to challenging peaks – and stunning lakes just minutes away, we provide the perfect base for a variety of skills development and assessment. Run entirely by experienced volunteer Scouts with decades of mountain expertise and professional-level training, our team brings passion, knowledge, and authentic scouting values to every course and stay. Whether you're seeking professional mountain accreditation, permit training for Scout activities, or simply a memorable group getaway, our centre provides an ideal base to explore Wales' most spectacular landscapes and culture with the added benefits of exclusive Scout rates, expert instruction, and flexible booking options to suit your group's needs.
FACILITIES AND ACCOMMODATION
The recently upgraded Hostel, which can sleep up to 32 people, has a fully equipped kitchen, a dining area, four dormitories, wash/shower rooms and a lounge for meetings or to relax in. We have good road access and parking for up to 10 vehicles directly outside the building. Unfortunately, camping is not available at the Hostel.
