Archery GB Instructor Award

The Archery GB Instructor Award is the new entry level training course for people working in leisure, recreation and educational environments. This course will be delivered by accredited Archery GB tutors. Participants do not need previous experience of archery.

Target sports

The course covers topics including:

- Safety
- Shooting technique
- Risk Assessment
- Games and competitions
- Coaching and teaching
Maintaining equipment

The course will mainly be practical but will also include some theory sessions. The course will include a practical assessment to receive the award.

You must attend the entire course to complete the award.

Self-catering accommodation is available.

In order to lead archery sessions within Scouting you will also need an Archery permit .

Archery GB Instructor Course

This course is for anyone who would like to learn how to lead fun and safe archery sessions for beginners. You will be trained and assessed by accredited Archery GB coaches who will show you how to shoot arrows, deliver mini sessions, select equipment, set up range and design games.

Course participants will be given breakfast and a light lunch.

Archery GB Instructor Course

At Scout Adventures Fordell Firs.

If you'd love to learn how to lead archery sessions with your Sections, come along to our beginners' instructors' course.

You will be trained and assessed by accredited Archery GB coaches who will show you how to:
•shoot arrows
•deliver mini sessions
•select equipment
•set up range
•design games

The course is only for teaching beginners, Instructors are not permitted to teach others to teach. You will be able to lead fun and safe Archery sessions for beginners.
The course takes place in the Wet Weather Hall at Fordell Firs and all equipment and documentation are included in the course fee. Course participants will be given breakfast and a light lunch and basic accommodation can be provided if necessary.

The course timetable is:
•9 November 7pm - 10pm
•10 November 9am - 5pm
•11 November 9am - 5pm

Funding and cost:

The full course fee is £220 but funding of up to £100 is available for Scottish members of the Scout Association.
