16 Hour First Aid Course - Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid

Would you know how to provide effective first aid in an emergency? This course is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification designed for those who have a responsibility to provide first aid in outdoor and activity based environments.

This course can be classed as a Full and First Response First Aid Certificate within Scouting and is ideal for running adventurous activities. It is also recognised by NGB's such as Mountain Training as well as meeting the standards set by the Institute of Outdoor Leaning at Tier 3. 

The training you'll receive over the two days is practical, hands-on and takes place outdoors at Broadstone Warren. No prior first aid experience is required, and all equipment will be provided. Just bring your enthusiasm to learn!

Who:

This course is open to both members and non-members. Attendees must be aged 18 and over at the start of the course. 

How much:

Early bird - £155 per person (Available until 8 weeks prior to the course).

Standard - £185 per person.

Accommodation:

Free camping is available. You can upgrade to a shared indoor accommodation for an additional £20 per night, with the use of a fully equipped kitchen.

Food:

You will need to bring food for the whole course. Please make a packed lunch as you may not be at your accommodation for lunch.

Archery Leadership Permit course

The Archery Leadership Permit course is designed to train and assess leaders to deliver fun and safe introductory archery sessions within Scouting. Led by a qualified Archery Permit Assessor, this course ensures you're equipped with the skills and knowledge you need.

The training you'll receive over the two days is practical, hands-on and takes place outdoors at Broadstone Warren. No prior archery experience is required, and all equipment will be provided. Just bring your enthusiasm to learn!

Successful completion of the course will result in a recommendation for a permit, but the permit itself is granted locally. Permits can be restricted depending on individual performance so that archery can still be delivered, but only under specific circumstances.

This course is open to members only. Attendees must be aged 18 and over at the start of the course.

Early bird - £90 per person (Available until 8 weeks prior to the course). 

Standard - £100 per person.

Emergency First Aid

The Rescue Emergency Care (REC) Emergency First Aid for the Outdoors course (formerly REC Level 2) weekend is designed to introduce a practical and systematic way of managing a first aid situation. Classroom teaching and practical sessions are mixed with scenarios to give real-life experiences.

The course is 16 hours long and certified for three years. It qualifies as a “Full First Aid Certificate” for The Scout Association (the minimum required for groups undertaking adventurous activities in Terrain 2). This covers you for Module 10a as it includes the extra areas of the First Response required (Dental, Paediatric CPR, Meningitis and Sepsis). It is also recognised for Mountain Training, British Canoeing and Royal Yachting Association courses.

We dual certify our first aid course. Your certificate will also be valid as an Emergency First Aid at Work qualification.

Members: £220 per person (residential), £190 per person (Non-residential)

Non-members: £315 per person (residential), £285 per person (Non-residential)

All residential courses include food and accommodation. Please note that there are no camping facilities at Yr Hafod or in the immediate vicinity.

Explorer Scout Adventure Weekend

Our Explorer Scout Adventure Weekends offer your unit the chance to explore the beautiful mountains of Snowdonia with our experienced staff. These weekends are ideal for Explorer Scouts interested in mountaineering. The weekend programmes are flexible and can be customised to match the aims and skills of your group, such as working towards the Climber or Hill Walker Activity Badge or as an excellent introduction to more serious mountaineering. If you’re happy to leave it to us to plan your weekend, we will try to include walking plus, depending on staff availability, climbing.
