How does it work?
This range of activities is specifically designed for our youngest adventurers – with shorter sessions and specialist equipment just for them.
- Each session is just 45 minutes in length instead of our standard 90 minutes*
- Multiple sessions can be combined to form longer adventures, including evening, day and overnight visits.
- Sessions are for groups of up to 12 young people, plus their accompanying adults.
- Adult supervision is needed to match the requirements in P.O.R; Squirrels - 1 adult to 4 young people, Beavers – 1 adult to 6 young people
- The sessions are designed so that you can choose between and instructor-led sessions or leader-led sessions ,with no special qualifications required*
- All of the sessions can be used to support badge work – contributing to the requirements for achieving both activity and challenge badges.

Instructor-Led or Leader-Led Options
We've designed each activity so that it can be delivered by our trained instructors, or as a leader led activity if you are confident to take the lead. Each activity session come fully supplied with equipment for 12 participants, and a set of instructions guiding you through the session.
You can use the activities to support your badge work - with as individuals sessions or by building a day or residential visit programme to tick of lots of the requirements of individuals activity or challenge badges.

Overnight Adventures!
Nights away are for Squirrels and Beavers too! This package is designed to support you in all the parts of running a successful overnight experience.
- Duration, Arrive ready for an afternoon of adventure, stay overnight then complete another morning of activities before departing home after lunch.
- Accommodation, You can choose between staying in one of our indoor lodges, and camping in our tented village.
- Programme, A fully instructed programme that includes all 9 of the activities If you’re bringing a beaver group you might also want to switch some out some of the activities for our standard 90 minute activities if you prefer
- Catering, If you chose the catered option then we’ll provide full meals from the evening meal on your arrival day, to Lunch on your day of departure.

How many adults can we bring and do we have to pay for leaders/adults?
You need enough adults to match the supervision ratios for your section, adults go free.
Can we just visit and do our own thing?
Yes – look for our “Visit fee” on a normal price list.
What are the minimum/maximum numbers for activities?
A maximum number of 12 participants per session, we would recommend a minimum of 6 Participants.
What are the clothing requirements?
Participants should dress for the weather! If you are taking pat in climbing activities then you will need clothes that cover the shoulders and upper legs. If you have long hair make sure you have a hair band to tie this back out of the way.
What are the session times?
Look for the standard session times on our normal price lists - because the sessions are only 45 minutes instead of our normal 90 minute sessions they will begin either at the start of those sessions, or half way through.
Do you have risk assessments for all the activities?
Yes – you can download all the risk assessments for the activities from the button above. If you are leading the activity yourself you should assess whether there are any additional risks that you need to control, especially if you don’t want to follow our session plan.
How do we run a leader-led session?
Every session has a set of instructions which detail how to set up and run the session. Sessions are broken down into activities with suggested timings. You don’t have to stick to our session plan - it’s your session to run following your risk assessment.
What are the requirements for leader-led climbing?
You will need a Scout Association Artificial Climbing Top Rope Leadership Permit. We will also complete an on-site induction with you before your session.
Why don’t the Archery and Tomahawks sessions need a permit or qualification?
We use soft versions of these activities designed for children which are outside the scope of the Scouts adventurous activity permit scheme.
When does a day visit start and end?
Discuss your programme with us when you book to make sure the times work for you, your sessions need to fit into our activity times so we can fit in the all the other groups who are also taking part in adventures.
Can we mix instructed and leader-led sessions?
Yes – discuss your programme with us when you book to make sure the blend works for you.
Do we need a nights away permit holder to do the overnight residential?
Yes you’ll need a Nights away permit holder at the right level for your visit – either indoors of campsite.
Can you accommodate dietary needs and can we see a sample menu?
Yes, we’ll ask you for dietary information during the booking process. A sample menu is available on our website.
Can we visit the centre before our overnight residential?
Yes – we encourage you to do this to help you plan your visit and write your risk assessment.
