How many adults can we bring and do we have to pay for leaders/adults?

You need enough adults to match the supervision ratios for your section, adults go free.

Can we just visit and do our own thing?

Yes – look for our “Visit fee” on a normal price list.

What are the minimum/maximum numbers for activities?

A maximum number of 12 participants per session, we would recommend a minimum of 6 Participants.

What are the clothing requirements?

Participants should dress for the weather!  If you are taking pat in climbing activities then you will need clothes that cover the shoulders and upper legs.    If you have long hair make sure you have a hair band to tie this back out of the way.

What are the session times?

Look for the standard session times on our normal price lists - because the sessions are only 45 minutes instead of our normal 90 minute sessions they will begin either at the start of those sessions, or half way through.

Do you have risk assessments for all the activities?

Yes – you can download all the risk assessments for the activities from the button above.  If you are leading the activity yourself you should assess whether there are any additional risks that you need to control, especially if you don’t want to follow our session plan.

How do we run a leader-led session?

Every session has a set of instructions which detail how to set up and run the session.  Sessions are broken down into activities with suggested timings.  You don’t have to stick to our session plan - it’s your session to run following your risk assessment.

What are the requirements for leader-led climbing?

You will need a Scout Association Artificial Climbing Top Rope Leadership Permit.  We will also complete an on-site induction with you before your session.

Why don’t the Archery and Tomahawks sessions need a permit or qualification?

We use soft versions of these activities designed for children which are outside the scope of the Scouts adventurous activity permit scheme.

When does a day visit start and end?

Discuss your programme with us when you book to make sure the times work for you, your sessions need to fit into our activity times so we can fit in the all the other groups who are also taking part in adventures.

Can we mix instructed and leader-led sessions?

Yes – discuss your programme with us when you book to make sure the blend works for you.

Do we need a nights away permit holder to do the overnight residential?

Yes you’ll need a Nights away permit holder at the right level for your visit – either indoors of campsite.

Can you accommodate dietary needs and can we see a sample menu?

Yes, we’ll ask you for dietary information during the booking process.  A sample menu is available on our website.

Can we visit the centre before our overnight residential?

Yes – we encourage you to do this to help you plan your visit and write your risk assessment.

What do our visitors say?

What do our visitors say?

This is my fourth visit in 13 months and it didn't disappoint. All of your staff are so friendly, helpful and welcoming and it makes it such a pleasure to keep coming back. We have now brought every single year group in our senior school and so many of them keep asking for a return visit.

This was a really good introduction to nights away for some of our Brownies who had not stayed away from home before... Activities were well organised and the Brownies enjoyed meeting people from other countries. The Brownies all grew in confidence and tried things that they might not have done in the past - from archery, rafting or trying new foods.

From booking all the way through the camp I cannot fault the service... Booking was easy, they were extremely helpful and patient which made it so much less stressful that it can be. The Bear's Den was wonderfully clean and spacious, and the activities brilliant. The staff on site couldn't do more to help us.

I love bringing Scouts to where it all started, we always have a really good time... After ten years many corners have joyful memories and after this weekend there are fewer corners to fill. We love the site, the staff are ace...

The staff and site was great. They really supported our students and all staff were amazing. The food was excellent and I would 100% recommend going to this site. The views on the walk were stunning and just made a great experience for all.
