Nights Away Weekender

Level up your Nights Away Permit. Build skills. Share stories. Get inspired.

Ready to take your residential skills to the next level? Join Scout Adventures at Great Tower for the Nights Away Weekender – a two-night, hands-on skills festival designed for anyone working towards, holding, or looking to develop their Nights Away Permit.

From Friday 6 to Sunday 8 November 2026, you’ll camp, learn, experiment and connect with other volunteers who love delivering unforgettable overnight adventures for young people. We recognise that this event falls over Remembrance Sunday, so to support more people to attend, we’ve introduced a day ticket option on Saturday 7th November. For anyone staying the full weekend, we’ll also be hosting a small remembrance gathering on site to mark the occasion.

This weekend is practical, creative and packed with real-world learning, with a mix of hands-on outdoor sessions and relaxed indoor workshops. You’ll dip into workshops that help you grow your confidence and stretch your skills.

Whether you’re just starting your Nights Away journey or ready to level up your permit, sessions are shaped around you.

The Nights Away Weekender is a space to share ideas, swap tips and pick up inspiration from people who’ve been there, done it, and still love it. You’ll leave with new skills, fresh confidence and a head full of ideas for your next overnight adventure.

Pricing:
- Standard ticket includes camping, self-catering, all workshops and an event badge for £40 per person
- Accommodation can be upgraded on a first come, first served basis to shared indoor bunk rooms for £29 per person which includes the Friday and Saturday night.
- Catering can be included either via a weekend package which includes all meals from Friday night supper to Sunday Lunch for £30 per person

Woodland Management Weekend

Step into the woods and grow your confidence in the outdoors with a hands-on weekend designed especially for adult leaders. This practical training event will give you the skills, knowledge, and experience to better manage woodland environments and make the most of them with your young people. The course will be run in conjunction with the conservation volunteers, providing practical skills and a wealth of knowledge.

Across the weekend, you’ll take part in a variety of practical sessions – from tree and habitat management to safe tool use, tree and hedge planting and management and conservation skills. It’s a chance to deepen your understanding of the natural environment while picking up tips, techniques and activities you can take back to your own groups.

As well as building your outdoor skillset, you’ll camp alongside other leaders, share experiences, and enjoy time around the campfire. Whether you’re new to woodland skills or looking to refresh your knowledge, this weekend offers the perfect balance of training, confidence-building and inspiration in the great outdoors.

This is a weekend event running from Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd November 2026, with programmed activities running on Saturday and Sunday. Overnight accommodation on Friday and Saturday is included. Participants will need to bring their own bedding.

Start times for both Saturday and Sunday sessions will be confirmed soon.
