Great Tower
Feeling adventurous?
Set in the heart of the Lake District, close to the shores of Windermere, Great Tower is one of our most stunning locations. Discover, explore and be inspired by our 250 acres of woodland and rocky-crags perfect for hiking as well as being in England’s largest National Park. Hike to the highest point of our site, Tower Rock and take in the views of Windermere and the surrounding Lakeland fells. The Lake District is home to Scafell Pike (England's highest mountain), Wast Water (England's deepest lake) and thriving communities like Keswick and Ambleside.
We can offer lodges, camping, or tented village accommodation.
Scout Adventures is run on a not-for-profit basis and is operated by The Scout Association, the UK’s leading youth charity in the UK. All Scout Adventure profits are reinvested into supporting outdoor adventure for young people and adult volunteers, and protecting our Scout Adventures site’s natural landscape for future generations. In line with Scout values (care, respect, integrity, cooperation, exploring our own and others’ beliefs) we believe in preparing young people with skills for life, creating better futures.
Our centres offer a truly unique multi-cultural experience to every group that visits. Each year, over 120 volunteers from all around the world join our renowned international residential programme. In return, they are trained to deliver activities and adventures alongside our professional staff teams that engage, challenge, inspire, and help create memories for young people!

FACILITIES AND ACCOMMODATION
Camp or lodge? We've got it all.
On-site camping
With camping areas set across 250 acres, there’s plenty of space for groups large and small. There are camping areas close to the centre of the site, as well as ones in more secluded areas.
On-site accommodation
We have four lodges of various shapes and sizes all of which come complete with fully equipped kitchens
and separate communal/dining areas.
Tented Village
Why worry about having to bring lots of bulky equipment with you? Our tented village takes care of all the hard work for you (well, most of it anyway!). Our tented village is a horseshoe of tents already pitched for you, complete with comfy mattress pads. There’s also a group tent with tables, benches, lighting and a basic camp kitchen. It’s a great alternative to the standard camping experience or even staying in a lodge. Mix it up a bit and book a different option each time you visit. Available to book from May to October.
